Spells and Potions
Edible FAQ and How To
Thank you for taking an interest in making some magic with me. To ensure we have an Elevated, but safe experience, please keep the following in mind when eating or drinking any infused spell or potion.
*Disclaimer: Cannawitch it’s not responsible for the over consumption of any product
Once you have joined the Canna Coven and received the password to the Cannawitch Kitchen and Apothecary, Cannawitches can make purchases of their desired magic in the form of a spell or potion … aka an infused goodie or flower to consume as you like.
There will also be recipes posted to help cannawitches make their own magic at home, so if you would like to share with others your favorite spell or potion, I’d be happy to post it!

When practicing plant magic please consider:
- Whenever practicing a new form of magic, Cannawitches should always start with a low dose in order to control your level of magic experienced
- For those new witches, a beginner spell is usually about 10 mg
- Begin by consuming 1/2 to one whole spell or potion
- Generally wait 30 to 45 minutes for the magic to activate, but it could take up to 90 minutes to kick in.
- If necessary, or if the desired effect hasn’t been achieved, add little more magic
Be mindful of that there are numerous of variables that will impact the magic working.
The contents of your previous meal will affect how fast Magic will be experienced. So if you’re practicing magic on an empty stomach, the effects will be faster compared to enjoying a dessert after dinner.
Keep this in mind before consuming too much, or you could just end up falling into a deep sleep instead of feeling any magic.
Drinking any type of alcohol will decrease the time in which your spell with take effect and increase the elevation level.
The medium in which the spell or potion was infused with will impact how fast the magic will activate.
Meaning, alcohol followed by sugar, then finally fat will be metabolized in that order. So, if your potion or spell is an infused alcohol or carbohydrate, the magical effects will be experienced faster than if the goodie was infused in butter or oils.
If all else fails and the experience is not the magic you have hoped for, CBD will decrease anxiety and will ground you.
Fun Fact: If there is no CBD available, chew on pepppercorns because it has natural CBD present.
Mushroom Tea and Self Care

Disclaimer: This blog post is a description of my experience using an infused mushroom tea as apart of my personal self-care. As with anything, there are a number of concerns if you do choose to incorporate any plant, powder, potion, or pill into your lifestyle. Please practice caution, do plenty of research, and ensure your environment is safe before you consume.
As a nutritionist and cannabis patient, practicing self-care is definitely apart of my lifestyle … so to celebrate the closing of this decade, I decided to give myself some overdue self-care in the form of a bath while drinking infused tea on the Winter Solstice of 2019. Although these activities are a great way to spend any evening, this Cannawitch has a lot more to offer herself than just warm bathwater and herbs.
My celebration started with a healthy dose of cannabis consumed as bong rips, dab hits, and edibles followed by full-spectrum hemp drops from Papa and Barkley. My parents and I then took a 5-minute drive to Ski Big Bear in Masthope, PA where our afternoon was filled with snowboarding, lunch, and cocktails. Upon our return back to our chalet (as I like to call it), I sparked my pre-roll joint from MaryJane_NYC_ promptly at 4:20 to begin my LIVE Joints with Jackie session with my mom as my guest.
On my IG story, I asked my tribe which Earth Lady Mushroom Infused Tea from Orcannyc should I try first, Raspberry Spice or Yogi Tea. At 6 PM the poll closed, my tub was filled, and I was ready to steep the winner, Yogi Tea, in boiling water before climbed into the tub big enough for two. After I turned on the jets, I dropped my CBD Bath Bomb from ONYX and Rose and sank into the lightly lavender-scented water while slowly sipping my tea.
While I Iaid in a jetted hot bath with heated water hugging me, I inhaled a deep breath of ginger and spices as my tea mug approached my lips. Unlike any other mushroom ingestion experiences (usually chewing and swallowing as fast a possible), I thoroughly savored every sip of this lightly sweetened and well-balanced familiar tea. Tasted so good that if I did not know it was infused, I would not have known until the trip began (and be pleasantly surprised). If I wasn’t already so cozy in a tub, this tea would have warmed me on the inside and kept me snug like bug.
If you had the chance to catch my IG story you would have seen I enjoyed my bath, even before I felt anything from my tea. Then after 15 minutes or so of splashing around and playing in a tub like a child, I started to feel a wave of a calm crash over me. My trip began.
At first, I was not sure what I wanted to do… right before this calm wave hit me I started to get antsy and bored. The warm water and jets started to be too much and I was about to make moves to exit the tub, then WHAM! I couldn’t move (in a good way) … my eyes got really heavy and all I wanted to do was lie there while the jets massaged water against me. When I was finally ready to open my eyes, I stared at the tile and window curtains hoping to see kaleidoscopic movements or some cool visuals, but not yet. I may have spent an hour in the tub just straight chillin (or I guess tripping), and eventually worked up the energy to drain the tub, rinse off, then moisturize and dress.
Following my rejuvenating bath, I felt refreshed and inspired so I worked on my IG story a bit and felt really proud of what I created. I shared my work with my parents which resulted in a rush of positive emotions expressed in a playful dance in my living room with my pet small parrot, Pistachio, and ended with a cuddle pic of him cupped in my hand in front of the fireplace. I then parked myself on the couch to join my parents while they were watching a movie, but after while it started to give me a headache and a little anxious as a result of focusing on a negative storyline so I took a bong hit and transitioned into my room.
The lights were dimmed and I played the “Chill Out” playlist on Spotify … this was what I was wanted. I stared at my curtains again with the goal of getting those visuals I craved, and shortly after it happened. Subtle pulse-like movements shadowing the pattern of the window curtain fabric. As I focused on them the headache disappeared and the calmness returned, that feeling of warm and cozy on the inside and outside. When I closed my eyes the cozy and warmth began to emit from within me and I want to believe I could actually feel the energy exchange between me and my universe.
My mom walked into my room to check on me and offer the bong but she saw me in a trance-like state of calm. She then sat next to me and started to rub my shoulders, so I immediately turned over to accept her “offer” of a back massage. Without hesitation, she began to rub my upper and lower back, massaging her thumbs to my preferred pressure and when her hands arrived at my exposed arms and legs, the warmth of her touch radiated through me to my soul. Eventually, she took advantage of this one on one time to start the normal mommy lecture of stating what she wants for me and the expectation of her daughter’s life. I quickly lifted my head and said, “Mommy, not now. I’m tripping.” and she stopped.
This gave me a moment to reflect on my intention for this mushroom trip and how things are definitely not what either of us would have expected for me when I graduated from college in 2010. But then there was a flash of excitement as I realized how happy and loved I was at this moment. For the first time in a long time, most things in my personal and professional life make sense. I feel at peace concerning my past and present, and I am excited about my future and motivated for 2020. This bath was more than just self-care for my body … it felt more like love and care for my soul.
A mellow trip that had me in a cuddle coma with Pistachio fireside, followed by a backrub by my mommy listening to the sounds of tranquility. If this isn’t an example of the utmost care of self, then I don’t know what is.
Marijuana Justice Act 2019, what is that?
High Friends,
Today is March 27th, 2019 and New York is making magic happen in Albany. Unfortunately, I was unable to travel upstate and exercise my American “stoner” responsibilities, but I do want to share the information I have and hopefully motivate you to do your part if you haven’t already.
*Disclaimer: I’m not a politician and (hate to admit it, but) not that into politics. Although I do understand that participating in current and relative conversations are necessary for growth; and to change the world, I must change myself (thank you, Gandhi), I’m very skeptical of “the system” so I won’t pretend to be an expert.
From my understanding, the financial budget for 2020 will be set on April 1st, 2019 in NY and the Cannabis Community lobbied to pass the Marijuana Justice Act of 2019. For those who are not familiar, this is the bill’s second introduction to Congress because it did not originally pass the Senate in 2017. This act proposes to not only to legalize adult recreational marijuana use on the federal level by removing it from the list of controlled substances but attempts to reverse decades of a failed drug war that has disproportionately influenced low-income communities and communities of color.
“The bill would also automatically expunge the convictions of those who have served federal time for marijuana use and possession offenses, and it would reinvest in the communities most impacted by the failed War on Drugs through a community fund. This community reinvestment fund could be used for projects such as job training programs, re-entry services, and community centers.” – New Jersey Democrat, Senator Cory Booker.
In 2019, there is more than 90% support towards marijuana use for medicinal purposes and more than half of Americans believe marijuana use should be legal. I know personally (and I work in a school), I forget that cannabis isn’t 100% legal and made that clear for years. But that is why I believe it is so important to address this issue … it blows my mind that in today’s day (despite similar rates of use), the racial disparities for African-Americans are close to four times more likely to be arrested for marijuana possession than whites. I can go into theories of why, but I want to keep this platform a positive space.
So, if you would like to play an integral part as a NY Cannabis Advocate and as an American, please call your local Assembly Member, State Senator, and Governor Cuomo himself by completing the following steps:
1) Go to Who Represents Me? NYC: http://www.mygovnyc.org.
Type in your address and hit ENTER. Go to the 2nd tab entitled “State”
2) Call, email, and/or hit the Facebook page of your Assembly Member, State Senator, AND the Governor. Also let Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins and Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie know you want legalization *in the budget*.
Governor Cuomo 518-474-8390
Majority Leader Sen. Andrea Stewart-Cousins 518-455-2585
Speaker Carl Heastie 518-455-3791
3) Read this script or use it as a guideline when you call or write:
Hello, my name is ________________. I’m your constituent from ________________ (say your neighborhood here). I want to urge you to support adult-use marijuana legalization in the state budget on April 1st! [My community has] / [Communities most harmed by] marijuana prohibition have suffered too long and are anxious for marijuana justice, sustainable equity, repair, and reinvestment. I, along with many other New Yorkers, support marijuana legalization! I’m counting on you to ensure marijuana justice is in the budget. Thank you.
Thank you @Poplar for popping into my Instagram feed and reminding me to do my part. I uploaded the video on my instagram (@thecannawitchnyc, if you’re not following yet) of me calling Gov. Cuomo of leaving a voicemail using the provided script on his V-mail. I called at 3:30 PM on March 27th and it took literally a minute. If calling is not your thing and you would still like to contribute to the end of Plant Prohibition, please write an email to you state reps … it’s 2019!
I pray this post gives further clarification on NY’s Marijuana Justice Status and what to expect as a cannabis advocate.

Blessed be, High are we
Who is the Cannawitch Nutritionist?
High there! My name is Jackie Conroy and I am the Cannawitch Nutritionist behind Cannawitchin’ Nutrition. I am genuinely excited to introduce myself since I am hoping to grow a community of canna witches who are as delighted as I am that the end of plant prohibition has begun. I have been utilizing plants and fungi as a part of my wellness routine for over a decade and now that NY has finally gotten it together, I believe it’s time to start making some magic with you!
Some background information on me so you can feel comfortable that I’m not going to lead you into the dark side … or eating bad apples (as a Disney fan and nutritionist, that is a cute joke so comment if you like it).
Anyways, I first experimented with cannabis the summer entering my freshman year of college and immediately knew this was it… I didn’t know what “it” was, but I loved it. I was on the search for something to calm my anxiety in social situations and tried drinking, but it wasn’t my thing. Hang overs didn’t make drinking alcohol worth it for me; so when I found that could smoke a hit or two of whatever the local street pharmacist was selling to laugh my butt off and then eat what ever I wanted (with it being the most delicious meal I have ever tasted), this was an absolute win. Cannabis was so clearly my thing that, “The recreational use of marijuana and weight gain” was the topic of my undergraduate thesis. It was not until this point that I learned that Cannabis had so many health benefits and could be used as more than just a good time.
I have been consuming cannabis almost every single day since that summer and it has played an integral part of who I am today. I am proud to say that I graduated with with a Bachelor and Master of Science in Nutrition, with the concentration of Sport Nutrition; I have been employed in the NYC school system for almost 2 years as a full time Nutritionist/Health Program Manager, and recently earned my ACE Health Coach certification. I am currently hoping to focus my energy with new clients on food education, nutrition basics, and cannabis so please comment or email me if you’re interested in a free consultation regarding my services (apologies for the shameless self promotion, but someones got to do it).
There is so much I want to say and I look forward to sharing it with you. I’m aware there will definitely be bumps in the road and appreciate some feedback … just don’t be d**k 🙂 This is my first blog and I am scared of putting myself out there, but terrified about the “what if I don’t” …. so here I go!
